Why Does Unique Handmade Work Have Its Price?
We are often asked what exactly determines the price of a crocheted toy. Behind every one of our creations is a process that requires much more than just pulling thread through a loop.
- Intellectual Work and Design: When you ask for a specific character (like a book hero), there is no ready-made pattern. We have to design a completely new pattern (or carefully modify an existing one) to achieve the desired look. This requires hours of planning, testing, and mathematical precision.
- Choosing the Right Material: Material dictates both the time and the cost of production.
- Plush Yarn: This is thicker, incredibly soft, and works up faster. It’s ideal for "chunky" toys intended for babies.
- Cotton Thread: This is significantly thinner and used when you want many fine details (like with collector figures). Working with cotton requires much more time and thousands of tiny stitches, which is why these toys cost more.
- Time and Effort: From the first "magic ring" (the starting loop from which every part of our toy is born) to every single "single crochet" (the basic stitch that gives the toy strength and shape), every toy is the result of hours of dedicated handwork. Every stitch is hand-tightened with lots of love.
